For helping us raise over $350,000 in 2013

A huge Thank You to all Kicks for a Cure sponsors, volunteers, players, coaches and fans who made this year's event an overwhelming success. Your donations are making a difference in our community!

The eighth annual Kicks for a Cure soccer exhibition, a benefit for the Liz's Legacy Cancer Fund, was held April 19-20, 2013.
Also for seventh time, a new record was established, raising over $350,000 for local cancer research efforts. Proceeds benefit Creighton University’s Hereditary Cancer Center and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

Creighton hosted this year’s banquet on Friday evening held at the Double Tree Hotel. The event was attended by approximately 500 people who enjoyed a unique experience where attendees interacted with participating players in a family-oriented environment. The evening included the presentation of the Liz Karnes Memorial Scholarship Award. The highlight of the evening was presenting the check by First National Bank. It was also announced that 2013 proceeds brought the 8-year total of the event to $1,456,729.

Kicks for a Cure surpasses million dollar milestone
Since its inception in the spring of 2006, Kicks for a Cure has raised over $1.4 million. Your support of Kicks for a Cure and of Liz's Legacy is an investment in the quest to find more effective ways to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer – it is an investment in our people and our community.

All of the proceeds of this event benefit Liz’s Legacy, the fund started by the Karnes family in memory of their wife and mother, the late Dr. Liz Karnes. The funds are being directed toward research projects at both the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Hereditary Cancer Center at Creighton University.

KFAC is an annual spring soccer weekend hosted at Creighton University. The primary purpose of the weekend is to raise awareness for women’s cancer education and prevention. This is also an opportunity to generate a broader interest in women’s collegiate athletics, and to showcase Omaha as a compassionate, vibrant community where health care, education, commerce and recreation intertwine.

Former U.S. Senator David Karnes and daughters Korey, Kalen, Kara and Laurel serve as honorary chairs.
