Kicks for A Cure is extremely fortunate to bring together some of the country’s
top women’s soccer teams and host such a talented group of players. We applaud
each team for taking time from their busy spring schedules to join us in Omaha
and thank each of the universities for supporting this event.

support a cure.

In 2009, host team Creighton had another successful season under the guide of Coach
Bruce Erickson. They compiled a regular season record of 13 wins – 4 losses - 2 ties and a bid to the
Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. They lost to Illinois State
by the score of 1-0.
Four Creighton players were named to the Missouri Valley Scholar Athlete team,
including one first-team selections. Named to the first team was Clair Zach.
Creighton had three honorable mentions which included Eden Hingwing, Kyla Hoskings and Alicia Montgomery.

In 2009, The huskers had another winning season under the guide of Coach
John Walker. They compiled a regular season record of 10 wins – 4 losses - 4 ties and a bid to the
Big 12 Championship. They lost to Oklahoma State by the score of 3-0.
The Nebraska soccer team came through with another big presence on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll as 23 current
and former student-athletes earned the required 3.0 grade-point average during the fall 2009 semester. The total marks
the sixth time in the past seven semesters that the Husker soccer program has had at least 20 members on the Big 12
Commissioner's Honor Roll, an average of 22 per term since the fall of 2006.

In 2009, The Bearcats had record setting season under the guide of Coach
Tracy Hoza. They ended the regular season with a school record of 11 wins, the Bearcats also had 8 losses and 1 tie
Northwest Missouri State senior goalkeeper Kira Lazenby has been named the top goalkeeper in the MIAA as voted on the by
the league’s head coaches. Lazenby is the first Bearcat to receive the award. Senior defender Jessica Braun and senior
forward Andrea Tritz were second-team selections.

In 2009, The Mavs had another great season under the guide of Coach
Don Klosterman. They compiled a regular season record of 13 wins – 5 losses - 2 ties and a bid into the
NCAA South Central Regional. They lost to Truman by the score of 1-0.
Redshirt freshman forward Nicole Baier was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America
Third Team. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 23 different institutions filled out the three teams.
Senior defender Megan Jensen was named to the All-Region Second Team. The Lincoln, Neb., native was part of a
UNO back line that allowed 16 goals on the season and held opponents to under 10 shots 14 times on the year

In 2009, Creighton had another winning season under the guide of Coach
Bob Warming. They compiled a regular season record of 7 wins – 5 losses - 3 ties and a bid to the
Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. They lost to Drake
by the score of 3-1.
Three Creighton men’s soccer players have been tabbed to the NSCAA Midwest All-Region Teams as announced Thursday.
Sophomore forward Ethan Finlay earned first-team notice, senior defender Chris Schuler was tabbed to the second-team
and senior defender Seth Sinovic was named third-team.

In 2009, The No. 2 Virginia men’s soccer team captured its sixth NCAA Championship, and first since 1994,
with a 3-2 penalty kick shootout win over No. 1 Akron following a 0-0 draw in the NCAA Championship final at WakeMed Soccer
Park. The Cavaliers (19-3-3) ended the season on a 16-game unbeaten streak. The Cavaliers are coached by George Gelnovatch.
Hunter Jumper, a sophomore defender on the Virginia men's soccer team, was named to the 2009 All-ACC Academic team,
the conference announced Wednesday. Jumper, an instrumental member of the Cavaliers' NCAA Champion squad, earned the
honor for the second-consecutive year.
